This enemy’s downfall is, singularly, one of the most pivotal moments in Elden Ring’s campaign despite not being related to narrative progression. The goal here is to travel to Castle Redmane in the southeast to defeat Starscourge Radahn and activate his Great Rune in the Divine Tower of Caelid. This zone is blighted by the Scarlet Rot, a disease that’s a more extreme form of poison if ever your character gets afflicted with it. Moreover, the region of Caelid further east of Limgrave still awaits.
There’s a stele flames puzzle here that you can complete to battle an optional boss. There, you can ride the lift to reach an underground area called Siofra River Well. Likewise, you can opt to head back to the Minor Erdtree in the Mistwood subzone of Limgrave. Alternatively, you can collect two halves of a medallion to use the Grand Lift of Dectus. To get here, you can use the Ruin-Strewn Precipice by following the river north of Liurnia of the Lakes as it cuts through the ravine. While there are no major bosses here that hold Great Runes, it does connect several regions, including Leyndell Royal Capital. It offers a wide-spanning environment with several dungeons, camps, enemies, and opportunities to continue leveling. As such, it’s better to venture forth to other areas.Īltus Plateau acts as a transition area. However, the journey to the capital is fraught with endless danger and the hostiles there will annihilate you in the blink of an eye if you’re unprepared. The destination itself is a requirement for campaign progression in Elden Ring. Rennala herself will surrender and, with a Great Rune that’s automatically activated, you’ll be able to respec your character’s stats by spending Larval Tears.Īssuming you’ve beaten both Godrick and Rennala, and have two Great Runes that are activated, Enia in Roundtable Hold will say that you’re allowed to head to Leyndell Royal Capital.

You’ll battle the Red Wolf of Radagon miniboss and Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, the dungeon’s main boss. Inside, you’ll fight zombies, sorcerers, and other contraptions. The objective here is to acquire the Glintstone Key to enter the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Liurnia of the Lakes is Elden Ring’s second main region, a destination that’s dotted with towering hills and fetid swamps. Lastly, if all else fails, you can always follow the cliffside path that loops north from the Stormhill Shack Site of Grace to reach Liurnia of the Lakes. This boss, Patches, can be forgiven, subsequently letting you buy an item that stuns Margit (or you can kill him and use his bell bearing on the Twins in Roundtable Hold). Likewise, a mini-dungeon called Murkwater Cave has a boss that’s familiar to veterans of the Souls series. If you’re having a tough time, you could always explore the rest of Limgrave, even going further south to Castle Morne in the Weeping Peninsula. In any case, the two bosses in this region, Margit the Fell Omen and Godrick the Grafted (who holds a Great Rune), present challenges that you’ll want to overcome. Once you have your horse, you need to fast travel back to the Church of Elleh as another NPC, Renna, will give you the Spirit Calling Bell, which allows you to summon specters to aid you in battle. Ideally, you’ll want to head to a Site of Grace called Gatefront, as that’s where an important NPC, Melina, will provide your mount, Torrent, and a means of leveling up. It features some of the easiest encounters in the entire campaign, as well as a tutorial area if you drop down the pit where the old man’s ghost is in the cave where you spawn in. Limgrave is where you’ll start your adventure in Elden Ring. However, we do suggest tackling as many optional and secret areas as possible so you can better arm yourself and truly experience the Lands Between.
While there are seven of these, you’re only required to activate two before a Roundtable NPC, Enia, tells you to go to the capital to become the Elden Lord.Īt this point, Leyndell Royal Capital can be visited, where you’ll battle more bosses to reach the throne room and the Erdtree.
